Petchpanomrung Kiatmuu9 is already looking beyond his brief retirement from kickboxing.

The Thai star has revealed that he plans to return to kickboxing in 2027, with ONE Championship as his target destination. The announcement came during a Q&A session at Warriors Muay Thai Gym in London, where Petchpanomrung appeared alongside his trainer Adrian Fairtex. 

According to the pair, the plan is to compete in ONE Championship next year and pursue major fights in the promotion’s bantamweight kickboxing division. They specifically mentioned Jonathan Haggerty and Yuki Yoza as opponents they would like to face. 

The news comes only weeks after Petchpanomrung stepped away from kickboxing competition. In August, he announced his departure from GLORY and relinquished the featherweight title after a long run at the top of the division. At the same time, he was linked with a return to Muay Thai and a possible campaign for a Thai stadium title. 

It is still unclear whether a move to ONE Championship would replace those Muay Thai plans or whether Petchpanomrung intends to compete in both sports. If the move happens, he would enter a strong ONE bantamweight kickboxing division that already includes Jonathan Haggerty, Yuki Yoza, Elbrus Osmanov, Hiroki Akimoto, Denis Souza Jr. and Superlek. 

Petchpanomrung remains one of the most accomplished kickboxers of his generation. In Beyond Kickboxing’s September 2026 rankings, he is listed No. 2 pound-for-pound and No. 2 at super featherweight. For now, no ONE Championship signing or fight has been officially announced, but Petchpanomrung’s comments make his intentions clear: he wants to return to kickboxing and test himself against some of ONE’s biggest names.
