Two fighters with notable careers in the GLORY Kickboxing organisation have signed contracts with rising Asian promotion ONE Championship.
Former GLORY Lightweight Champion Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong signed with ONE. The news was announced on Twitter earlier today.
Yesterday, former WGP Champion and GLORY Heavyweight Title challenger Guto Inocente announced he was heading to ONE in a story on his Instagram account (IG: gutoinocente).
Thailand’s Sitthichai had an outstanding run in GLORY. After winning a contender tournament in 2015, the onetime Muay Thai champion lost a questionable decision to then-champion Robin van Roosmalen.
Sitthichai avenged the van Roosmalen defeat the following year, winning the title via five-round split decision.
Sitsongpeenong made six successful title defenses before losing the belt to current champion Marat Grigorian last May. It was his last fight with the GLORY promotion.
The 28-year-old Thai has won a GLORY title and tournament titles in Wu Lin Feng and Kunlun Fight, in addition to being an accomplished Thai boxing competitor.
He joins a stacked 70 kg roster in ONE that includes Italian legend Giorgio Petrosyan, fellow Thai Yodsanklai, and former Enfusion champion Tayfun “Turkish Turbine” Ozcan.
The news of Sitthichai joining ONE was reported on Twitter by Muay Thai Chai.
Guto Inocente Also Heading to ONE Championship
Brazilian heavyweight Inocente competed for GLORY between 2015 and 2018 and reached the top 5 of the GLORY heavyweight rankings.
He lost a unanimous five-round decision to champion Rico Verhoeven in an unsuccessful title challenge at GLORY 59 in September 2018.
Inocente’s biggest wins were decisions over top contender Benjamin Adegbuyi and Hesdy Gerges.
Guto last competed for GLORY in December 2018 but remained active last year in Brazilian promotion WGP. He successfully defended his WGP belt with decision wins against Francesko Xhaja of Albania and countryman Haime Morais.
