An Important meeting took place in Lausanne during the Youth Olympics 2020, where the IFMA Secretary General met Thailand’s Sports Minister, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Thailand’s Governor of the Sport Authority, Kongsak Yodmanee, Thailand’s honourable IOC Member, Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul and notable officials which included the Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand, Charoen Wattanasin.
SportAccord and GAISF President Raffaele Chiulli made a presentation to the delegation and a crucial presentation was made to the Governor regarding the SportAccord Convention. The Thai delegation also had the opportunity to visit the President of the IOC, Thomas Bach where fruitful discussions were held.
An open dialogue between all parties were held concerning the independence of IFMA as an organisation recognised by the IOC and GAISF as well as IFMA’s close cooperation with the Kingdom of Thailand, the Motherland of muaythai from the Old Siam. The meeting included talks regarding the national organisations recognised by the National Olympic Committee and/or the Sport Authority of Thailand. IFMA General Secretary who is also the Vice President of GAISF, thanked the Royal Thai Government for the unforgettable SportAccord Convention 2018 and looks forward to a continued cooperation using sport to the benefit of society.
