4-11 September, the city of Kazan will host the first CIS (Commonwealth of the Independent States) Games with more than 2000 participants from CIS countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan) in the age between 14 to 23 years. The event will highlight 16 sports with muaythai sharing the stage with the sports like judo, karate, sambo, badminton, boxing.

16 sports,182 sets of awards, over 400 judges and referees, and over 1,000 volunteers will be involved in the competition which will make it one of the biggest multi-sports events in which muaythai is included.

Muaythai will be featured 3 – 9 September with top IFMA athletes competing for the medals of the games. For muaythai the CIS Games will be a special event as qualification points for the World Games 2022 will be contested among participants. 

Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin said that that preparation for the Games goes in a very dynamic mode. In all, about 2,000 participants are expected from CIS member states. Kazan has truly become the sports capital of Russia with infrastructure ready to host any sports event.

The CIS Games will have many side events including “The Sports Territory Forum” inviting leaders of sports from participating countries.
