ONE Championship has just dropped a bombshell update for its stacked ONE 173 spectacle on November 16 at Tokyo’s Ariake Arena, elevating the card to legendary status with the announcement of a massive super-fight. Headlining the update is a clash for the vacant ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title between former divisional king Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon and living legend Nong-O Hama.
This Thai-on-Thai super fight pits the most dominant force in flyweight Muay Thai history against the most dominant former ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion of all time. For Rodtang, this bout marks his quest for career absolution. The 28-year-old striker was stripped of his flyweight belt in November 2024 for missing the demands of the scales. A rejuvenated Rodtang returned at ONE 172 in March with a performance for the ages against Takeru “Natural Born Krusher” Segawa.
In peak physical form, the Thai megastar needed just 80 seconds to annihilate the Japanese icon with a thunderous left hook. Now, “The Iron Man” stands one fight away from completing his redemption story, looking to reclaim the throne he once occupied.
Standing across from Rodtang is a revered Thai warrior whose seven consecutive ONE World Title defenses included five straight knockouts. Nong-O has found new life at flyweight, most recently scoring a redemption victory over fourth-ranked Kongthoranee Sor Sommai at ONE Fight Night 31. After losing their first encounter, the 38-year-old veteran reminded everyone why he remains one of the most dangerous strikers in “the art of eight limbs” with a unanimous decision triumph. Looking to add to his legacy, Nong-O seeks to conquer a second weight class and join the ranks of ONE’s prestigious two-division World Champions.
