Following a circulatory vote of its Executive Committee (ExCo),  the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has removed, with immediate effect, the National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs) of Indonesia and Thailand from the list of Signatories that are non-compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code (Code).

On 14 September 2021, WADA’s ExCo asserted that the Indonesia and Thailand NADOs were non-compliant. This non-compliance became effective on 7 October 2021 after the two NADOs chose not to challenge the assertion.

As it relates to the:

  • Indonesia NADO, the non-compliance was due to non-conformities in implementing an effective testing program.
  • Thailand NADO, the non-compliance was due to lack of full implementation of the 2021 Code within its legal system. Then, during WADA’s 24 November 2021 ExCo meeting, the ExCo approved additional reinstatement conditions; specifically, that, beyond implementing the Code into its national legislation, the NADO had to complete two outstanding critical corrective actions relating to its testing program that were identified during a WADA compliance audit in December 2020.

In line with the International Standard for Code Compliance by Signatories, the Indonesia and Thailand NADOs have successfully met their obligations to regain compliance and have therefore been removed from the list of non-compliant Signatories.

There are currently two remaining non-compliant Code Signatories. They are the NADOs from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Russia.
