It was a glorious and triumphant return to elite Muay Thai for Yodwicha Por Boonsit when he defeated his compatriot, Satanfaa Rachanon, to become the new WBC Muay Thai super-welterweight world champion.

The showdown for the covered WBC 154 pound world title took place on Sunday the 23rd of February, on the AMMA promotion, in what was the French based promotions inaugural event, an event which shone bright from start to finish.

During the buildup to the event, the champion Satanfaa was singing a song of confidence as he looked to make his first defense of the world title he captured when he defeated Australia’s Chadd Collins last September at Bangkok’s Lumpinee stadium. Yodwicha for his part was keeping a low profile in the buildup to the bout.

The Showdown:
The opening round of the world championship saw Yodwicha start with a bang as he set about hunting the champion with ruthless effectiveness. He cut Satanfaa just over his right eye — from an elbow — in the midst of the opening stanza.

The bell rang to start the second round and it was Yodwicha who once again started with effective relentlessness as he pursued the champions title from corner to post within the squared circle. Yodwicha landed the killer blow with a beautifully timed elbow to send Satanfaa crashing to the canvas to the point of no return.

With that, Yodwicha Por Boonsit became the new World Boxing Council super-welterweight champion of the world and firmly put his name back on the map for elite Muay Thai.
